Job Description

A private sector organization is seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Assistant to support procurement operations, supplier management, and inventory coordination.


Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, price, and delivery timelines
  • Negotiate pricing and contractual terms with suppliers
  • Place and track purchase orders to ensure timely fulfillment
  • Manage inventory levels and avoid shortages or overstocking
  • Monitor market trends to ensure competitive purchasing
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships
  • Coordinate with internal departments on purchasing needs
  • Ensure compliance with company purchasing procedures
  • Keep accurate records of purchases, orders, and invoices
  • Resolve supply chain issues and discrepancies as needed

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field (preferred)
  • Previous experience as a Purchasing Officer, Buyer, or similar role
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Familiarity with procurement and inventory processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; SAP experience is an asset
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • High attention to detail and effective problem-solving
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
